Mighty "IF"
64
Hail to the “IF”!! Growing up the word “if” has been instilled in our brains so deep that time and again it has brought us delights as well as suspicions. As kids we often heard endless if’s, “if you don’t drink your milk”, “if you don’t do your homework”, “if you’re good, all is good” and so on. If the “if” didn’t suffice up to its mark the conditions are lost and so forth the dilemma.
The situation “if” is introduced to our lives and gradually progresses into “if only” and “wish” accompanies it as we mature into adulthood. When does the condition if take over our guiltless lives is a mere mystery. An innocent child is slapped with the “if” every now and then. The invasion of “if” has such massive strengths which can build or ruin the quality of our existence and should have come with a fair warning. “Fire hot! Baby touch no no”, “milk make baby strong”, “a” for an apple, “b” for ball and “if” for, “I told you so”, would have been sufficient too.
Fairness does not comply with its own meaning, so what of the word “if”? I would accuse the word addicts for making this a complicated, intrusive bloody murder of the very simple word. The “if” shall have its place wherever and whenever one finds it fit, how convenient. Our parents pointed it at us, teachers did it with their very rules, the governments shun the “if” rebels and superiors and work places boast their own if’s every day. If God wasn’t called God, i reckon the next most suited name would be “If”. “IF” the good doer, “IF” the path to righteousness, “IF” the punisher, fear the “IF” and thus “IF” the all mighty.
No fair caution about the word, which haunts us in the most concealed ways, super! Limitations do not exist to its usage, awe-inspiring! The word “if” has been exploited beyond belief that you and I merely see it as the mass murderer of dreams and hopes. There are no rational warnings to it’s over use, overdose or total carnage. Abide by the “IF”, in all fairness it is up to you. The level of obedience to “if”, the condition perhaps molds us into the person we are. Its outcome moreover helps in making you or breaking you. The intensity of absurdity this word possesses can only be acknowledged by its victimized recluses.

I'm not a fan of "if" or "what if" ... those are two words that could take a hike from my vocabulary. I totally understand your perception of "if" You got my vote!
What an *intriguing* take on a tiny word that has such a huge impact on us from birth! I'd never thought of "if" as being so powerful. The Smiley graphic you included is perfect, too! Voted up and awesome! ;D
Hi! I really liked this hub!!! Voted up too! I especially though it made complete sense when you stated, "The level of obedience to “if”, the condition perhaps molds us into the person we are."
From a simple word you take us into the philosophical pondering.
I think 'if' and 'but' are the two most used words and most of the times their use is mistimed. 'If' only I had read your hub earlier 'but' how could I? I just came across it today.
